Day 12--Why Blogger?

day 12- How you found out about blogger and why you have one

I really don't remember.  I know that a lot of my friends had blogs and I loved looking at theirs so I thought I'd give it a shot.  I have really enjoyed it and find it's a good way of letting friends and family that we don't see much know what we're doing.  I have a dream of printing it into a book and using it as my scrapbook/journal of sorts.

Day 10

Day 10- songs you listen to when you are happy, sad, bored, hyped, mad
Man if you would have asked me this back in high school, I could have given you a list a mile long.  Music seemed so important back then.  I couldn't function without listening to something if I was getting ready, doing homework, or just hanging out.  Now I guess my interests have changed.   I usually only listen to music in the car now, but occasionally I'll turn something on while I'm putting on my make up.  I usually pick music that gets me up and moving.  I do like to listen to church music especially on Sunday's to try and set the right mood for the day.  I'm also trying to get my kids to learn more of the primary songs so it helps to have it playing in the background as they bathe and get ready for bed.
The main time I listen to music is when I'm working out, and my tastes vary depending on my mood.  If I'm in a bad mood and mad I choose more of the hard rock selections like Def Leopard.  If I'm happy I like some Neil Diamond (weird I know).  When I'm sad I usually try to pep up my step with something that makes me move and want to dance.  Wish I could be more specific, but really if you knew all the music I had on my Ipod, I would be embarrassed!

Trunk or Treat

We just had our annual Trunk or Treat at the church.  They did it a little early and I was so bummed because Michael wasn't going to be able to make it, but we lucked out and it was his short night so he came with us then headed it work.  The kids had a blast and got so much candy that I don't think we'll need to go Trick or Treating :)  I stayed at the car this year and handed out the candy and Michael took the kids around.  There were some great creative costumes and that's the funnest part is just seeing how cute all the kids look!  (Hayden was the cutest Captain America, but no pictures.  I guess you'll have to wait for Halloween :)

Harmon the Spiderman, Ethan the skelaton, Samo the bat, and Hunter the Army guy.  Best buddies!

Our Witchy Witch Haley

I was shocked Harm left the mask on all night.  Actually I don't think we could have gotten him away from it.  He loved being dressed up!  Hunter was in full Army mode the entire night!

The camo face was Hunt's favorite part.  I loved it to until I had to scrub the bathtub clean the next day :)

Day 9

Day 9-- something you're proud of in the past few days
Hmmmm . . . I havn't done to much this week.  I guess I'm proud of the fact that I've kept this 30 days thing going.  I've also cooked dinner everynight this week.  I admit I've been tempted to be lazy and go out almost every day!  I'm so lazy by the end of the day.  I do admit that this week I've been very proud of my kiddos.  I had a really bad day the other day and they seemed to sense it and have really been helping out.  It's easy to be proud of them because they are such great kids!  I'm kinda proud of the pictures I took of Haley to--I'm really wanting to practice my photography skills and Haley makes it easy by being so dang CUTE!

Day 8--Goals

Day 8- short term goals for this month and why
*Workout at least 3-4 days a week for obvious reasons
*Make a Budget and stick to it--I'm horrible about spending!
*Spend more time Playing with my kids--I need to put down the vacuum and play a game instead! They are growing up so fast and I'm sure soon they won't want to hang out with me anymore : (
*Cook more--eat out LESS!
*Go on a date with my cute hubby--we need to make more time for each other!
*Call an old friend and catch up--why? I love hearing from those good people who have influenced me and made me who I am!

Picture Day for Haley

It was picture day at school for Haley, so here is our pre-shot pics before school.  We had to practice smiling with out teeth :)  This cute girl has lost one of her front teeth and the other one is sideways waiting to come out.  We laugh everytime she smiles.  She is adorable regardless of being toothless and LOVE her to pieces!!!!

Day 7--Biggest Impact

day 7- A picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you

I can't possibly name all the people in my life that have had a big impact on me.  I've been blessed to be surrounded by people who are truly good examples.  I did think of something that has had a large impact and that is the blessing of the temple.  I love going to the temple and crave feeling the blessings as I enter the door.  I remember going thru for the first time as I was preparing to leave on my mission.  I loved every minute of it and couldn't wait to return.  I visited as often as I could until I left and missed it horribly on my mission.  18 months without it is a very long time!  In fact as I was flying home we had a lay over in St. Louis and ran to do a session, we almost missed our flight home (In fact the Elders Did miss the flight).  Needless to say there is now a rule that missionaries are no long allowed to do that!  After my mission I made it a point to go to the temple at least once a month, but it worked out to be once a week.  A few years later I was married in the St. George Temple.  What joy fills my heart knowing that my family is sealed together for eternity.  I thank Heavenly Father for that every day!  The temple still has the same impact on me each time I visit.

Day 6--My favorite Superhero

Day 6- favorite super hero and why . . .
This should be an easy one because my kids are so into the superheroes.  Until I met Michael I never even knew there were so many.  I guess my favorite would be Superman.  Why?  He can do it all.  He flies, he stops bullets, heck he can even turn back time :)  Most of all he has a heart.  He is selfless and is always looking out for others without thinking of himself.  I guess in a way he is Christlike.  What better example is there than that!

Day 5

Day 5- A picture of somewhere you've been to . . .

I've been to a lot of totally amazing places, but here are some of my favorites!  warning--some of these pictures are before the digital age so they're a little old :)  Which means I'm a little young :)
Boston with my sweetie--FUN FUN trip!

Yellowstone with one of my best friends Kristin.  It was just the 2 of us and we had SO much fun.  We camped and made a lot of our own food.  I have video of the trip as well.  Oh boy were we goofy back then.  OK we still are :)  Don't you just LOVE the overalls!

Hawaii . . . Need I say more!  I went with some of my college/mission buddies.  It was just us girls and we played it up!  I do admit, I had met Michael right before we left on the trip and I was wishing big time he were with us.  There is something about a bunch of silly girls that is so fun though!

England . . . This is me and my bro Marc.  He served his mission there and went back to baptize a guy he taught. It was an amazing trip probably a once in a lifetime thing for me.  It was just my Mom, Marc, and I.  My Mom and I were tourists and had a ball!  We saw Les Miserables and every sight we could possible fit into the few days we were there.

This is the Capital in Frankfort, Kentucky.  That's where I spent a large portion of my mission.  I was called to the Kentucky Louisville MIssion, but I spent time in Indiana, Illionois, and Ohio.  What an amazing experience to serve the Lord and learn so much.  It was the hardest thing I think I've ever done, but I wouldn't give it up for anything!

Day 4--Bad Habits

Day 4- What's a habit that you wish you didn’t have . . .

Oh boy, where do I begin!?!?!
1.  I'm addicted to Diet Coke!  I so wish I wasn't and I say I want to quit, but I really don't.  I love that first coke of the day.  It's the one thing I can count on as a constant in my crazy Mom life ;)
2.  The evenings hit and I get LAZY.  I get the kids in bed then I'm usually home alone and could probably get a ton of things done, but my lazy bone sets in and I'm in front of the TV or reading or playing on the computer.  It should be my productive time!
3.  I also have a bad habit of buying junk that I really don't need.  I find that I'm really cheap and buy clothes and things like that on clearance at Target, but I'd be better off saving my money and buying quality things that I'll actually wear.
4.  Another bad habit is going on and on when you're only supposed to list one bad habit ;)

Day 3

Today I'm supposed to share a picture of me and my friends.  This is so sad, but I don't have any pictures of some of my best firends.  I have been blessed with some of the greatest firends that support me and help me on a daily basis.  I know now that I better get my camera out and start snapping!  You wonderful women out there know who you are and I thank you for always being there for me!  I guess I could post a picture of my BEST friend and that of course is Michael.  He's always there for me and puts up with my little temper tantrums.  I also posted a picture of my wonderful family.  I consider my Mom as one of my best friends and depend on her for so much, I also know that all of my brothers and their families are always there for me.  I'm lucky to have them not only as friends, but as family!

Day 2

Okay so today is rather boroing on my list of things to blog about.  What is the meaning behind your blog name?  "Nelson News" is pretty self explanatory.  I use my blog basically to let friends and family who may or may not be close know what we're up to.  Doesn't EVERYONE want to keep up with the News from the Nelson Family :)

I also forgot to post a recent picture of me yesterday so here's the most recent one I have (just imagine my eyes open : )  This was from my birthday celebration as my family spoiled me.  I'm soooo lucky!

Picture day

So today was picture day at Pre-School for Hunter . . . soooo what do I do?  I grab my camera for a few pictures before he left.  What a cute kid he is!!!  Hunt is the sweetest kid I know.  He tells me he loves me at LEAST 20 times a day!  He's more than willing to hand out hugs to me or the rest of the family (whether they want it or not :)  His smile is infectious and so is his goofy laugh!  Oh and isn't he just the CUTEST!  Someday those baby blue's are going to break a lot of girls hearts!

Change of Plans

I am a big planner and hate it when my plans get messed up, but sometimes I guess it works out for the best.  That's what happened today, but I was left with some free time to just have fun with the kids.  We were headed to Cedar City to see my new nephew when Michael got hit with the flu.  It was bound to happen since we've been passing it around the family this week.  We were just north of town when we turned around to bring Michael home.  My plan was to keep heading up with the kids, but after an hour in the car I wasn't sure they would last another 2 1/2 hours and me by myself (plus I really didn't want to spread any of our yucky germs to that cute baby).  So we stayed home and put Michael in bed and I got to work on the house.  After mopping the floor I realized that I owed the kids at least a little fun so we headed to Boulder City.  The McDonalds there is so fun and it was a nice change of scenery.  We were the only ones there so the kids ran wild and I sat and read.  After that we headed to the park to feed the ducks.  It was fun just to watch 4 of my favorite little people discover new things and enjoy each others company.  So as much as I hate when plans have to change I'm thankful for together time with no stress!  We ended the evening with pizza and a movie (Karate Kid).  I'm glad to say Michael's feeling a bit better, which I'm glad for!
Trying to get 4 kids to hold still is IMPOSSIBLE :)
